It is a privilege to not only witness, but to document the transformation that comes with Motherhood. It is not lost on me, the courage it takes, for a Mother to allow me into her home during a time when she is preparing (as much as you can prepare) for her world to shift so significantly.
A time when she exists between two worlds, between two versions of herself. The one she knew & the one on the other side. It is a time of wonder & worry, boundless joy, uncertainty and, yes – vulnerability. Perhaps, so much vulnerability that many of us can’t find the courage to document ourselves during this incredible time, with babe tucked away safely wombside. Choosing to instead document our joy once that sweet babe has joined our family earthside.
I understand that choice. I made it myself. Now, looking back, I wish more than anything that I had documented my pregnancies too.
The story of your baby begins with you. Of course we should celebrate & document your sweet earthside babe, and we will! But how incredible it is to look back and see the story of becoming a mother in it’s entirety.
